Dharma Yoga Benefit for Botshabelo
Today I had the pleasure of assisting in and co-teaching an All Levels Hatha yoga class at my home studio, Dharma Yoga http://www.dharma-yoga.net/. The revenue for this class was donated directly to fundraising efforts to purchase yoga mats so that I may have the honor of bringing the transformative practice of yoga to the lives of the children at Botshabelo.
Today's class brought tears to my eyes multiple times, as I watched 40 souls come together for the practice of seva (Sanskrit for service). But, there were so many more souls in that room today...during our African dance, I felt the souls of each of the 150 children who call Botshabelo their home. As I gazed around the room, I saw the beauty that each of us brought to our practice today, knowing that we were there for a purpose greater than ourselves. We joined our voices together at the end of class with the "Sea of Oms"...and my heart swelled from the pure, boundless joy and love that you all gave so magically today.
By 2010, an estimated 10 million children will be orphaned by AIDS in South Africa...it takes a village of well-intentioned, caring, and compassionate individuals to raise a child. And through our practice of yoga together today, I truly felt the metta (Sanskrit for unconditional love) and generosity of all of you who came to support our global village. From Austin, TX to Magaliesberg, SA!
A HUGE, WARM, and LOVING thank you to Dharma Yoga! Keith and Camilla graciously opened their doors to this wonderful cause, and allowed me to share my love of yoga and passion for the children of Botshabelo with so many today. Thank you for providing a space where we can heal ourselves and others through the power of yoga!
